K52 ARGON TRIPLE POINT CELL & MAINTENANCE SYSTEM
Home / Primary Temperature Metrology / K52 Argon Triple Point
The K52 Argon Triple Point Cell and Maintenance System is a fully integrated solution for realizing the argon triple point with exceptional accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use. Built around a sealed, ultra-high-purity argon cell with active thermal shielding and automated liquid nitrogen management, the K52 produces long, stable plateaus with uncertainties better than ±0.00035 K—while simplifying what has traditionally been one of the most complex primary fixed-point realizations.
Fully Integrated Primary Fixed Point System
Combines the argon triple point cell, thermal environment, liquid nitrogen handling, and control system into a single, unified platform—eliminating the complexity of multi-component setups.
Ultra-Stable Temperature Plateaus
Vacuum suspension, copper radiation shields, and active thermal control work together to produce flat, repeatable plateaus suitable for high-accuracy SPRT calibration.
Rapid Flood-and-Freeze Realization
A unique flood-and-freeze design removes heat directly from the sample, enabling complete solidification in approximately 2 hours with minimal operator intervention.
Automated LN2 Level Control
An integrated mechanical pumping system maintains a constant liquid nitrogen level above the cell, ensuring consistent operating conditions without continuous user attention.
Extended Plateau Duration
An internal 8-liter LN₂ dewar supports plateau durations exceeding 16 hours on a single fill, with optional automatic refill capability for continuous operation.
Guided Operation with System Prompts
Microprocessor-based control provides step-by-step prompts through the realization process, reducing operator variability and improving repeatability.
Designed for Real-World Calibration Workflows
Supports both capsule and long-stem SPRTs and allows multiple thermometers to be calibrated simultaneously within a single freeze cycle—maximizing throughput.
Key Features
(see numbered callouts in image)
Internal 8L Liquid Nitrogen Storage Dewar
Holds enough LN2 to realize triple point conditions and maintain a plateau for 16 hours.
Unique Flood-and-Freeze Design
Removes heat directly from the cell, reducing freeze times.
Mechanical LN2 Pump
Controls liquid level above the cell at a constant level and allows automatic operation of the freeze cycle, minimizing required operator intervention.
Electric Heater in Thermal Contact with Cell Body
Forms outer melt and can be configured to periodically apply a heat pulse to confirm maintenance of triple point conditions.
Copper Thermal Guard Shells
Maintain an isothermal environment for extended, flat plateaus
